The 2013 vintage of our favourite, fairly full-bodied special cuvée. The 2013 is listed at Rick Stein’s. €13 a bottle.
The back label: ‘A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard, this medium to full-bodied red was aged in French oak barrels. Lovely to drink young or keep it for a few years. Best decanted but not essential’ 13.5% alc
Les Trois Hectares rouge is always an artisanal affair. It is made from vines with fewer bunches for greater concentration and harvested entirely by hand from a 7-acre block. It is aged in French oak barrels, and is a tasty, darkly fruity and full bodied blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2013 stands up to many far more prestigious names in the vintage. Medium bodied but extremely attractive.
Selected by the sommeliers for the list at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, June 2018. (Note the label does not have the 'Rick Stein' signature as on the Rick Stein Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé.)
